Howard-Boss' EFR to be inducted into HoF

Sports car ace recognized for motorsports achievements

Denver, N.C. (August 16, 2006) -- Elliott Forbes-Robinson, one of the legendary sports car racers in the world, will be honored by the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America for his lifetime achievements in motorsports. Affectionately known to his many friends and fans as EFR, the veteran racer will be one of seven inductees into the prestigious Hall of Fame in a ceremony held at The State Theatre in Detroit, Michigan on Thursday evening, August 17th.

EFR has enjoyed success in various forms if motorsports such as Trans-Am, Can-Am, SCCA, NASCAR, and the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. In fact, his Rolex Series win with teammate Butch Leitzinger in the #4 BOSS Snowplow Pontiac Crawford at Barber Motorsports Park in October, 2004, gave EFR the distinction of winning a major road racing event in five straight decades.

EFR and Leitzinger teamed for two seasons in the potent #4 Pontiac Crawford for Howard-Boss Motorsports in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. They won three races, the Porsche 250 at Barber in October, 2004, the Brumos Porsche 250 at Daytona in June, 2005, and the EMCO Gears Classic at Mid-Ohio in August, 2005. In their 25 races, EFR and Leitzinger earned sixteen top-five and four second-place finishes to accompany their three wins. They teamed with NASCAR star Jimmie Johnson to finish second in the 2005 Rolex 24 At Daytona.

A California native who now resides in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, EFR, one of the most popular and likable competitors in the sport, will be joined in the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America by Chris Karamesines (Drag Racing), Hershel McGriff (Stock Cars), Nigel Mansell (Open Wheel), Jeff Ward (Motorscycles), Tom Carnegie (At-Large), and Curtis Turner (Historic) as 2006 inductees. EFR will have Howdy Holmes as his presenter.

In his storied sports car racing career, EFR won eight SCCA championships, the 1982 Trans-Am title, the 1999 Can-Am crown, and was the 1997 and 1999 overall winner of the Rolex 24 At Daytona. In 2003, EFR won the Rolex Vintage Car Championship.
