Columbus, OH (7 September 2010)- As the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal prepares to stage the final race of the 2010 championship this Saturday at Miller Motorsports Park, another competition has emerged as Michael Shank Racing has been nominated for GRAND-AM's 2010 "Rolex Moment of the Year." The nomination comes for the team's amazing comeback at Mid-Ohio as the team cars finished second and fourth for the teams best-ever finish at the home track following a frightening fire at Watkins Glen International in the previous round.
Fans of Michael Shank Racing looking to put an exclamation point on the hard work and effort that their team put in to come back so strong should head to www.grand-am.com/news/vote.cfm and vote for Michael Shank Racing's "Rolex Moment of the Year."
The nomination means that Michael Shank Racing could become the first-ever two-time winner of the award, as the organization already has one "Rolex Moment of the Year" to its credit after the fans spoke and made the teams breakthrough 2006 race victory at Miller Motorsports Park a "Rolex Moment of the Year."
The team went on to score a race win at the track once again in 2008 to close the year out with two successive victories and will look to make new "Rolex Moments" this weekend as the team targets a return to the Miller Motorsports Park podium once again on Saturday.
"It's great to have our Mid-Ohio race and all the work that went into it be eligible for the Rolex Moment of the Year and I just to thank our fans for their votes and support," said Shank. "I think it's great the way GRAND AM is engaging the fans with this and hopefully we can win it. Getting on the podium at Mid-Ohio was a huge accomplishment for everyone on this team, and it's already our own highlight of the year so hopefully everyone else feels that way as well!"
