Wayne Taylor Racing is back in charge of the 55th Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona with four hours to go as drivers rushed to the pits to change to slicks.

Prototypes

Jordan Taylor is leading and pulling away from Christian Fittipaldi, after Max Angelelli passed Barbosa and survived a spin to hand over the #10 WTR Cadillac DPi-V.R in the lead. This lead was extended when Fittipaldi had a minor off on cold tires on his out lap.

The #90 VisitFloridaRacing Multimatic Riley remains on the lead lap in third, and is now driven by Rene Rast.

Scott Sharp visited the infield scenery again but survived again so the ESM Nissan is running fourth. Fifth was the #55 Mazda RT24-P until Spencer Pigot brought it into the pits with its backside on fire. He escaped unhurt.

GT Le Mans

This class continues to be fascinating as the track evolves, with Toni Vilander initially taking the lead but then getting reeled back in by the Fords as the asphalt dried. However, co-driver James Calado re-emerged from the sequence of pitstops leading in the Ferrari 488, heading Joey Hand (Ford GT), Antonio Garcia third (Corvette C7.R), Dirk Werner (Porsche 911 RSR) fourth, and then Harry Tincknell and Billy Johnson sixth and seventh. The latter car is one lap down from the GTLM leaders.

GT Daytona

Andy Lally’s #93 MSR Acura NSX was the first to be switched onto slicks and it paid off handsomely and he now leads the class ahead of Mario Farnbacher’s #33 Riley Mercedes-AMG, Tom Dyer in the second Acura, Robin Liddell in the Stevenson Motorsports Aud and Christopher Mies in the Land Motorsport Audi R8.
