BAD WEATHER AFFECTS TEAM SAN CARLO HONDA GRESINI SECOND DAY TESTING AT VALENCIA

The second and last tests day to prepare the 2009 season, in Valencia, has been set back by the adverse weather conditions: during the morning in fact no rider has been testing because of some drops of rain, and the Ricardo Tormo asphalt was humid; the beginning of testing has been therefore postponed to the afternoon.

Today each rider was provided with only one rain tyres set, so Alex De Angelis and his team made the decision not to test because of the difficult track conditions: the asphalt was humid and its temperature was getting colder.

Toni Elias instead started testing in the afternoon at around 15.30h and, using the only one rain tyres set provided by Bridestone, could complete 22 laps with the objective to keep on gaining his confidence with the new Honda even in wet conditions.

Team San Carlo Honda Gresini riders will return on their Honda RC212V bikes during the forthcoming tests in Jerez on 26th and 27th of November.

Alex De Angelis (no test): "I'm unhappy with today weather conditions, because we had still a lot of work to do especially if we consider the new tyres, the new bike and the new team. In fact there are still many aspects which we need to find a solution to; anyway we will try to find the right answers to our questions during the next tests in Jerez. In any case I get back home with positive feelings thanks to yesterday good results and this makes me feel confident for the future".

Toni Elias (6th best time - 1' 54''057 - 22 laps): "Unfortunately today we have been able to ride only 22 laps on track, anyway for us it was important to test to collect data even in wet conditions. I'm happy about these two day of testing because I could feel my first impressions riding both on dry and on wet conditions. Obviously there is still a lot of the work to do to improve even because today, having tested only for a hour, it has been difficult to find immediately the right solutions. Anyway I'm happy with the team and with the bike and I'm looking forward to the next tests in Jerez to continue the development of the bike and to keep on improving because this is only the beginning".
