Team Penske official considers Logano/Kenseth feud "over"

Czarnecki addressed the Logano/Kenseth incident on Wednesday in an interview on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

“We’re in an emotional business and sometimes it’s hard to keep your emotions in check but I think we have to do so for the benefit of the sport,” he said. “As far as we’re concerned, it’s over.

“Life goes on. We’re going to Texas. We’re looking forward.”

On Sunday, Kenseth – nine laps off the pace at the time – pile-drove then-race leader Logano into wall during the race at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. A victory by Logano would have advanced him in the championship race later this month in Homestead, Fla.

Kenseth was immediately “parked” by NASCAR and on Tuesday NASCAR suspended him for the next two Sprint Cup Series races. Kenseth is appealing the severity of the penalty. His appeal will be heard Thursday morning.

Eyes forward

Czarnecki said the only conversation he has had with Logano since the incident was to tell him to put the incident behind him.

“Focus on Texas. We can still get in the Chase,” Czarnecki said he told Logano. “You can still win the championship and that’s our intent.”

Asked about NASCAR penalties assessed to Kenseth, Czarnecki said he commended NASCAR for how it has addressed the situation.

“I think they went through their whole investigative diligence process, the process played out, they made their decision. Some people are happy with it, other people aren’t,” he said. “It’s been fascinating to me to hear everybody’s opinions – all the way across the spectrum – from emotions to the informed, to the less than informed, to the facts.

“It’s a lot of fun to listen to and I’m glad everybody has spoken their minds. Insofar as NASCAR, it’s their call. It was their decision, so we go forward.”
