RAIN SHOWERS FORCE POSTPONEMENT OF NHRA READING EVENT

READING, Pa. (Sept. 16, 2006) - The second straight day of persistent rain showers in the Eastern Pennsylvania-area forced NHRA officials to postpone the 22nd running of the Toyo Tires Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway. The race will now be contested on Sept. 29-Oct. 1 at the Reading track.

Two-time NHRA Top Fuel champion Larry Dixon, driver of Don "the Snake" Prudhomme's Miller Lite dragster, remains seventh in the NHRA Top Fuel standings. The 1995 NHRA Rookie of the Year is a two-time finalist at the Reading race (1995, '05). Dixon is the winningest active Top Fuel racer with 38 career victories, ranking third all-time NHRA drag racing's premier category.

The next NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event is the 21st annual O'Reilly Fall Nationals, Sept. 21-24, at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas near Dallas. Dixon won the Dallas race in 2001.
