Losing parts prevented Nick de Bruijn good results

No luck once again for Nick de Bruijn. In qualifying as well as in both International Formula Master races at Brands Hatch, failures on the car made scoring points impossible. However, the twenty-year-old from Vlaardingen has one positive thought; De Bruijn knows the speed is there as he had achieved good laptimes in the two free practice sessions.

Nick de Bruijn ended the two free practices on Friday with the seventh best time. He was expecting a good qualifying result because he knew a place within the first six was realistic - but the luck wasn't there. Unfortunately, De Bruijn was unable to drive a quick lap as the frame of the engine mounting had torn away.

Starting from position fifteen, the ISR driver passed a few other competitors until his hopes for points vanished when half way through the race, part of the back of his car blew away suddenly. De Bruijn was forced to retire into the pitlane. As a result of his retirement, the Dutch driver started the second race from grid 22. Once more, he didn't get a chance to be competitive after a piece of his front wing broke and damaged one of his tyres. Luckily De Bruijn drove his car off the track safely, which ended his disappointing race weekend in England.

Nick de Bruijn: "It was a dramatic weekend. We were fast in the two practices but it went all wrong after that. In qualifying I wasn't able to drive a quick laptime as the frame of the engine mounting tore. The speed was actually there, so I think a place within the top six was realistic but then losing several parts of my car during the races ended my weekend. The luck just isn't with me lately but we definitely have the pace. Hopefully someone else gets unlucky in Monza because we know we can also be fast there."

Next race weekend for Nick de Bruijn is October 7 for the final rounds of the International Formula Master on the Monza circuit, Italy.
