Falken Tyres Rally Queensland - Media Day Success
The final shakedown for crews entered in round two of the Australian Rally Championship Super Series has seen an unprecedented roll up of media and the public.
Big crowds were on hand in Pelican Waters today as around 30 crews put their cars through final testing for the weekend's Falken Tyres Rally Queensland and many had an opportunity to ride with their favourites stars and cars!
The participating crews were led by reigning ARC Champion, Possum Bourne and his awesome Subaru WRC and his major challenger, Canberra's Neal Bates in his Toyota Corolla WRC...
Also attending were leading national class contenders, John and Damien Long in their Mitsubishi Lancer and leading F2 challenger, Brett Middleton in his Honda and Tasmania's Lee Peterson in his Nissan.
Major excitement for many spectators was a ride in the big Ford Falcon V8 of South Australia's Steve Winwood, while many Falken tyre dealers opted to try the two Falken supported Mitsubishi Lancers of father and son drivers, George and Steven Shepheard.
The final shakedown also gave local media first hand experience of the sport, with numerous radio, TV and print journalists invited to sit alongside the top drivers in full blooded rallying mode.
The Falken Tyres Rally Queensland will officially start with a gala street parade and fireworks display in Caloundra's main street Friday night before the field heads back to Pelican Waters for the first official special stage of the two day event.
