Pittsburgh, Pa. 11-15-2010 -- Ray Santomo has been crowned Champion of the Sports Car Club of America's, Steel Cites Region, 2010 Championship Series. Santomo competed against fifty six other drivers for the title and has captured it in just his third year of automobile racing.

Even though this is only Santomo's third year of auto racing he is no stranger to the winners circle. Ray started racing go-karts at twelve and by the time he was fourteen he had won his first World Karting Association championship series in 2004. Santomo proceeded to win the World Karting Association, Beaverun Championship Series in 2005 and 2006.

Continuing with his young racing career Santomo was named the Sports Car Club of America's New York State ITE division champion and the Steel Cities Region, Rookie of the year in 2008. Not slowing down for 2009 he finished the Kryder Racing Series in second place and the Steel Cities Region series in fourth place.

2010 was the crowning season for the twenty year old Santomo as has captured the top spot to be the overall series champion of both the Steel Cities Region and the Kryder Racing ITB Series.

Santomo said "I plan to race in 2011 as hard and fast as I am able and keep the championship for another year. I would then like to move on to bigger and faster cars if I can find a sponsor".

Ray Santomo's race team "Blue Skies Racing" is run and financed by his father Scott Santomo. This is a team run on a shoe string with help from Pete Delmer of Pete's European Techniques. "We almost have to win to be able to race" says Santomo. Without the contingencie money for wins from SCCA sponsors such as Volkswagen and Hoosier Tire Co. we may not be able to run a full schedule. The pressure is always on in one way or another.
