USAC Sprint Car Driver Jimmy Weller III Released From Rehabilitation Center, Returns Home to Ohio

CONCORD, N.C. (Dec. 15, 2004) - Jimmy Weller III, injured in a USAC sprint car event at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway on Wednesday night, Oct. 13, has been released from the Charlotte Institute of Rehabilitation and is continuing physical therapy on an out-patient basis at a facility near his home in Liberty, Ohio.

Weller, 19, suffered severe head trauma in the accident along with two cracked vertebrae which required surgery.

"I am thrilled to be home in Ohio and reunited with my family and friends," said Weller, who is expected to continue undergoing physical therapy three times a week for at least two months.

"He is doing great," said Weller's father, Jim Weller Jr. "If you walked into the room with him and didn't know he had the accident, I doubt if you would notice anything different about him. After reading his hospital report, his physical therapist here is amazed how well he is doing."
