Australia's Team Betta charity trek to Darwin

CHARITY TREK TO DARWIN

Fourteen vehicles will set out on a 3,500 km motoring trek from Brisbane to Darwin on Sunday June 22 to coincide with Darwin's Hidden Valley Round 6 of the V8 Supercar Series.

Betta Electrical Stores are sponsoring the Trek, with member stores joining in the celebrations along the way.

BSL Chief Executive Officer Guy Houghton said "The Trek is designed to raise much need funds for two very worthy charities, those of the Peter Brock Foundation along with Rotary International, both of which assist in community needs in very special ways".

" The Trek has been supported greatly by both Holden and those at Betta Electrical Team Brock Race Team, with Holden having built us two special Commodore SS Utilities complete with the Team Brock race car livery designs".

"We have planned special auctions and raffles of Team Merchandise at towns along the Trek and are confident of raising a considerable amount of money for these worthy charities," said Guy Houghton.

The thirteen vehicles taking part in the Trek will meet up in Longreach on Tuesday June 24th and travel in convoy through to Darwin, arriving at the Palm City Shopping Centre, Palmerston at 9-30am on Friday June 27th, where Peter Brock, Jason Bright, Paul Weel, Paul Radisich and Dean Canto will join in the celebrations by signing autographs and giving away Team Posters to their many Territory fans.

Paul Weel driver of Team Brock Commodore car 16 will steer one of the special SS Commodore Utilities for the entire Trek, with Peter Brock and Jason Bright slipping in behind the wheel of the second SS Commodore Utility for the final run from Katherine to Darwin.

"I'm looking forward to the Trek said Paul Weel, it should be a lot of fun and I trust the people out west will get behind our charity fund raising Trek and help us to raise funds for these two very worthy charities".

"Peter Brock said Round 6 of the V8 Supercars at Hidden Valley is one of the major events on the series calendar, everyone in the Territory gets behind the celebrations, the likes of which are unequalled at any other round of the Championship".

"One of the greatest spectacles, is the parade of Team Transporters through the centre of Darwin City on the Thursday morning prior to the weekends racing".

"A true sight to behold, said Peter, with over a kilometre long procession of some of the most colourful and immaculately presented 'rigs' to ever grace our National Highways, all adding to the carnival atmosphere when the V8 Supercar Circus comes to town".

The Trekker's have arranged their own Corporate Hospitality facility at Hidden Valley from which to view the exciting Round 6 of the V8 Supercar Series.
