MCNALLY SO CLOSE TO PODIUM IN BEST V8 UTES PERFORMANCE YET

Glenn McNally finished fourth in the V8 Utes at Darwin's Hidden valley Raceway in what was his best result to date in the competitive category.

It was not all smooth sailing for the West Australian though with a race 3 scuffle costing him a 10 second penalty against his result.

The reverse-top-sixteen race 2 today saw Glenn make his biggest charge yet as he stormed from 12th on the grid to finish the race in 2nd place and with the second fastest lap of the race.

"Things went really well for me out there today," Glenn said.

"The car was great and I was just able to pick them off one by one; it is a great feeling when everything is working so well.

"It is a credit to the team at HiTech Motorsport for all the work they have put in."

Race 3 was where the havoc started for Glenn as he was the innocent victim of a stoush between Cranbrook and Kovacs.

"I was pushed wide and off the track on the first lap," Glenn said.

"I made it back onto the circuit at turn four and was then hit and turned around by Miedecke which dropped me back to 9th place."

As a result of the incident Glenn was penalised 10 seconds on his final result for 'dangerous re-entry to the circuit', a penalty that Glenn accepted but did not agree with.

"I was the victim out there and somehow they saw me as being at fault," he said.

"I have copped the penalty, they can take my result away but they cannot take away how well I went out on the track."

In fact Glenn was going so well that despite dropping back to ninth place he was still able to charge back to fifth by the finish of the race.

"The car was not that good after the first lap but I was still able to get a fair bit out of it," he said.

The 10 second penalty put him 12th in the race which gave him 4th overall for the meeting, his best yeat.

"Fourth place was great for us, I know we can go better in the future.

"Townsville is a new track for everyone so if we do our homework we will be on the pace for sure," he said.

The next round of the V8 Utes is at Townsville's Street Circuit in 3 weeks.
