World of Outlaws' Official Kevin Gobrecht Report

PLANO, TX (September 27) - It's very unfortunate when a tragedy like Kevin Gobrecht's occurs, some people take it upon themselves to speculate or spread ridiculous rumors that only cause pain and anguish to family and friends.

This tragic accident started when Kevin's car spun several times coming out of turn one. Toward the end of this spinning, his car flipped over and came to rest on its left side with the top of the car facing oncoming traffic. A competitor's car then collided with the front and top of Kevin's, causing it to barrel roll.

Rescue and medical personnel were quick to respond and quickly extricated Kevin from the car. He was transported by ambulance to Bryan Lincoln General Hospital West, but all efforts to safe his life failed. Dr. Tadd Delozier pronounced Kevin deceased due to head injuries at 12:33 a.m. Saturday.

There is film footage of the accident, but out of respect for the family it has not been released. They were not at the race and, as of this time, have not viewed the accident footage. The World of Outlaws is of the opinion that if they want to see the film, they deserve the right to view it in a private setting.

For now, this is all the information anyone needs to know about the events surrounding Kevin's untimely passing. Only his family, car owner and crew have the right to ask for additional details at this time.

Please be respectful of Kevin's family and stop the rumors and unsubstantiated stories.
