Le Mans sportscar fans and New Year's Eve party goers will be able to celebrate the forthcoming exciting motorsport with a new limited edition Le Mans Adelaide Coopers beer can.

Local brewer Coopers, today launched a limited edition beer can to mark its sponsorship of the Adelaide event.

Featuring an illustration of the Le Mans Series cars doing battle on the streets of Adelaide, the cans were launched in conjunction with a national marketing campaign by the Adelaide brewer.

With horsepower of a different kind, the new campaign features the Coopers clydesdale horses which were on hand at today's launch in the Parklands on the corner of Rundle Road and East Terrace.

The Le Mans Adelaide event will incorporate this section of the internationally famous Adelaide street circuit for the first time since the last Adelaide Formula One Grand Prix in 1995.

"This is going to be certainly a New Year's Eve to remember and we believe the new Coopers Draught Le Mans Adelaide cans will be hugely popular," Coopers Brewery Marketing Director, Mr Glenn Cooper said.

"The Adelaide event is a huge boost for this State and having seen these cars do battle recently in the U.S., I believe the people of Adelaide are in for a fantastic show."

Cooper recently attended the Petit Le Mans event at Road Atlanta in the U.S., round nine of this year's Le Mans series.

At the event, Coopers also launched a unique competition for Le Mans Series teams to try their hand at home brewing.

All teams were issued with a Coopers Lager home brew kits at a special "Adelaide" BBQ staged on September 27 at Chateau Elan near the Road Atlanta course.

Their efforts will be judged at the Las Vegas round of the championship on October 29 with the team producing the best beer will be awarded a huge "Coopers Party" when they arrive in Australia.

While race mechanics are familiar with the fine tuning of oils and lubricants to ensure their machines are on the pace, brewing beer should be an exciting new challenge.

"By the time they arrive in Adelaide, these mechanics would have endured a very tough championship," Coopers Brewery Marketing Director, Mr Glenn Cooper said.

"What better way to reward months of hard work than with huge Coopers party - not only can they try their own efforts, we will ensure there is plenty of supply of our range of largers, ales and stouts for them to try.

Coopers were recently announced as a key sponsor for Le Mans Adelaide. Race fans and corporate guests at the event will also be able to enjoy the Coopers' products.

Adelaide will host the final round of the 2000 Le Mans Series, a 12 round championship which features the stars and the cars from the world's most famous motorsport event - the Le Mans 24 hour.

The three-day Adelaide event will feature the six-hour Le Mans Series Grand Finale on New Year's Eve.
