Reddy expected higher, but pleased with British F3 performance

The Fortec driver notched up four podiums en route to sixth place gathering 284 points. The Indian believed he could have finish higher after how testing went, but he accepted the results as a learning experience.

"I would say my first season in British F3 has been positive, although we had higher expectations set for ourselves," said the teen to Motorsport.com.

"It would be wrong to be satisfied with top 6 considering how fast we were in the pre-season tests.

"Not many things went our way in the first half of the season, but we turned it around in the second half with three podiums on the bounce which was highly encouraging," the former Force India academy driver added.

Reddy scored 118 points in the first four rounds to an improved run in the remaining four with 166 points and three podiums - just missing on a win.

Need to work in qualifying

While Reddy was able to claw back in the races, the Veloce Sports backed driver thought qualifying was where he lacked, hampering his progress in the races.

"We showed flashes of speed, topping a couple of practice sessions through the season but couldn't really put it together in qualifying," he started.

"I found that there was a narrow window where I felt most comfortable in the car and every time we were slightly off that window our qualifying performance would be average.

"We didn't do much testing nor did we have a quick teammate in the third car pushing me along which hampered our development but in most scenarios we made the best out of the position we found ourselves in," he explained.

The Indian comfortably beat his only teammate Al Faisal Al Zubair by 88 points, who was in his second season, having competed with Hillspeed in 2015 in a much less powered car than 2016.

Silverstone round key

When asked to explain his up and down season, the Indian says Round 5 was a key turnaround - that is since when Reddy managed consistent top 10 results.

"My toughest moments would have to be Snetterton (Round 1) and Oulton Park (Round 4).

"We qualified well at Snetterton, but I got taken out in two out of the three races which was frustrating," he recalled.

"In Oulton Park, we just struggled for outright pace. We lost a lot of points from these two weekends.

"But the team and myself regrouped and bounced back in Silverstone (Round 5) with a podium which was definitely a boost to our morale," summing up his first BF3 season.

Talking about his future, Reddy revealed that a decision is likely during December/January.

And he is looking at options which includes GP3, European Formula 3, Euroformula Open, along with staying back in BF3.
