British GP: Renault Saturday notes

Demonstrating the effectiveness of the team's new aerodynamic package, Jarno Trulli qualified seventh, while team-mate Jenson Button suffered an engine failure on his first timed lap. His subsequent runs in the spare car were hampered by a package possessing a lower level of overall performance, meaning he finished the day in twelfth position.

"It was a good qualifying session after a difficult day, during which we struggled with the set-up of the car. We worked on the problems with the front end, and definitely solved most of them for qualifying. The car didn't feel too bad, and I'm pleased to be seventh, which means I should be able to score points tomorrow. It's a shame for Jenson, as it would have been good for the team to have both cars where they should be on the grid."

"It's always disappointing to qualify twelfth, and even more so to do it here at Silverstone. On my first timed lap, the engine went on the entry to Becketts - I don't know what happened. The guys did a great job to get the T-car ready, but it was always going to be difficult because of the differences between the two cars. Even though we worked on the balance of the car, we didn't find the right set-up. It's going to be a tough day tomorrow."

"Our session was hampered by an engine problem on one of our cars. At this stage, we are not certain of the cause. After that, both drivers did the best with the package available to them. For Jarno, it is satisfying to see him confirm the car's potential. Jenson had his session disrupted by the problem, which explains his position on the grid."

"Obviously, I am very disappointed for Jenson, who suffered an engine failure on his first run. Driving a T-car without the new bodywork and with a lower spec engine, he was always going to struggle. Otherwise, I am sure we would have seen both cars well in the top ten. Jarno did a good job, qualifying where we expected. Certainly, we need to make good starts and score points tomorrow."
