Ralf Schumacher takes the checkered flag, followed by Barrichello, Villeneuve, Fisichella, Button and Alesi. Ralf is now third in the championship, BAR overtakes Jordan for fifth, and Benetton leapfrogs three teams to move into seventh.

Only two laps left now, and the top four are fairly settled right now. Only Jean Alesi is harassing Jenson Button for fifth place.

Barrichello pits, and, he, too, has problems with his fuel rig. Not enough, though, to affect his position. He is now some 47 seconds behind Schumacher, but still 25 seconds ahead of Villeneuve.

Coulthard pits ... and then blows an engine as he comes out of the pits! It's now R. Schumacher, Barrichello, Villeneuve, Fisichella, Panis and Button.

Montoya's engine is blown -- the Colombian pulls off, BMW engine smoking. Both Benettons are now in the points, and only 12 cars are running.

Ralf pits, trouble-free: the top of the order is now Ralf Schumacher, Barrichello, Montoya, Coulthard, Villeneuve and Button.

Michael Scumacher coasts to a halt ... the second mechanical failure for his Ferrari today. He doesn't pull of the track, though, but parks his car just off the racing line.

Montoya pits ... and the fuel hose doesn't work! The pit crew switches to Ralf's fueling rig, but Montoya loses an additional 15 seconds.

Barrichello has caught up to Coulthard again after his pit stop, and takes forth from the McLaren as the two reach the stadium.

Both Raikkonen and Irvine pull into the pits to retire; Villeneuve is now in sixth place, and Button in seventh.

Barrichello pits for fuel and tires, confirming his two-stop strategy.

Hakkinen's McLaren has a punctured radiator, and the Finn has to pull off to retire. Coulthard is now fifth, and Raikkonen sixth.

Michael lets Barrichello past, and the Brazilian is now chasing Ralf.

Three laps in, it's Montoya and Ralf well in front, then Michael and Barrichello, Hakkinen and Coulthard, followed by Kimi Raikkonen and Eddie Irvine.

De la Rosa brakes way too late at the first chicane, and takes himself and Heidfeld out of the race.

Ferraris are definitely faster than the McLarens: on the first lap, Michael passes Hakkinen, then Barrichello passes Coulthard, and finally Coulthard gets past Hakkinen, too.

On the second start, all is O. Into the first corner, it's Montoyoa, Ralf, Hakkinen, Michael and Coulthard.

The race had now been red-flagged due to all the debris on the track -- stand by for a restart.

At the start, Michael Schumacher fails just meters after leaving his grid position. Most of the field avoids him, but Luciano Burti doesn't see him, and slides into the stricken Ferrari. Burti's Prost somersaults in the air, but lands right side up, and Burti gets out, unhurt.
