GERMAN GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING SESSION - 1st AUGUST 1998

The Danka Zepter Arrows Team completed today's qualifying session for the German Grand Prix with its drivers Mika Salo in 17th and Pedro Diniz in 18th position. During the first Free Practice session this morning, Pedro's car developed a waterleak and the engine from the spare car was transferred to his racing car. During the second part of the morning's session, Pedro's car developed a handling problem, which the team could not locate and repair in time, leaving Pedro to use the spare car in qualifying.

Mika Salo: " I tried to improve on my time, but I just could not find the right balance. Although the car feels very comfortable, I do suffer from recurring oversteer. Apart from that the performance of both engine and Bridgestone tyres were very satisfactory."

Pedro Diniz: " During the first practice session this morning, we had to perform an engine change, so we did not have much time to set up my car. Furthermore, my car developed a handling problem towards the end of the second practice, which forced me to use the spare car during qualifying. I would have liked to have achieved a better result, but I did what I could under the circumstances."

Tom Walkinshaw: " Considering the obvious dominance of the current championship leaders on this high speed circuit, the final positions of our drivers was to be expected. However, it is our goal to be competitive in tomorrow's race and bring both cars to the finishing line."

Chassis Numbers: Pedro Diniz 02, Mika Salo 03, Spare 06
