Third victory of the season for Sergio Campana at Monza in a stunning race one, certainly one of the nicest of the last few years.
Several twists happened starting from the formation lap, when the leader of the rookies classification Gabriel Chaves (Eurointernational) was forced to the retirement due to technical reasons, while at turn one a contact between the classification leader Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target) his closest opponent in the title fight Stephane Richelmi (Lucidi Motors) forced the driver from Monaco to an early retirement.
The battle for the victory saw Sergio Campana (Lucidi Motors), Andrea Caldarelli (Prema Junior) and Daniel Mancinelli (Team Ghinzani) as protagonists alternating at the lead of the race. The victory went to Campana at the end of a red-hot fight, followed by Caldarelli, author of the fastest lap of the race, and Luberati (Prema Junior).
The fourth position was obtained by Mancinelli, slowed down by a contact with an opponent in the final stages, who was followed by Christopher Zanella (JD Motorsport), Gianmarco Raimondo (Lucidi Motors), first of the rookies, Nicolas Marroc (Prema Junior), Cesar Ramos (BVM-Target), David Fumanelli (RP Motorsport) and Alberto Cerqui (Ombra Racing) to complete the top ten.
Ramos keeps the classification leadership at 152 points, followed by Richelmi at 142 and Caldarelli at 140. Situation unchanged in the rookies classification instead in terms of the first two positions with Chaves uncatchable at 182 points.
The weekend's programme will reach its conclusion tomorrow with race two, starting at 12.30 local time and covered live on Italian TV by Nuvolari (Sky 218 and freeview),
