“The calendar was not rejected today and a provisional list of races will be issued shortly,” the FIA Formula E media delegate told Motorsport.com.

“The calendar is being finalised and needs some more clarity. Some additional time is needed to issue the actual calendar and this should be completed and communicated very shortly.”

The next WMSC meeting is not until September, but votes can be cast outside of official WMSC meetings in so called ‘Fax Votes’, which can be concluded within 24 hours if necessary.

As revealed by Motorsport.com last month, Hong Kong will open the season on Sunday 9th October.

It is understood that an area of concern has been the large gap between the second and third races, which on the original draft seen by Motorsport.com saw a large gap between the originally mooted Marrakesh street race in November and the Latin/South American leg in February/March.

The Punta del Este event, which has been an ever-present fixture since the inception of the championship in 2014, was originally not included in the draft, but could be used to break up the gap with a race on December 3 or 10.

The Buenos Aires and Mexico City events are believed to have swapped around, so the Argentine fixture is proposed to take place on February 18, with the second Mexico ePrix potentially on April 1.

Long Beach is missing from the calendar altogether, and its original draft date of March 25 is believed to have been dropped. It is believed that the favoured date for an April 22 slot could be given over to an event on the streets of Singapore.

The European leg is set to kick off with the planned Monaco and Paris events running back-to-back in May.

Two final European slots are pencilled in for June 10 and 24, straddling the Le Mans 24 Hours, which is confirmed for 17/18 June. The most likely cities to take these dates are Brussels and Berlin respectively.

The season is set to finish with a North American double-header in Montreal and New York, both in July.

Motorsport.com understands that Formula E boss Alejandro Agag is in New York this week continuing negotiations with several authorities to get a confirmed green light for the race.
