Eight Events For The Fifth Edition Of The Series, Which Incorporates the Nurburgring In Its List Of Top Class Venues
Technical Stability, Cost Control And Enhanced TV Coverage, Main Guidelines Inspiring GT Sport's Efforts For Next Season
GT Sport Organizacion today announced the 2010 provisional calendar of the International GT Open and the main guidelines for the next edition, the fifth, of the successful GT2 and GT3 continental pro-am series.
The 2010 season of the International GT Open will include eight events, which will keep the proven format of two 1-hour free practice sessions on Fridays, two 35-minute qualifying sessions and first race on Saturdays and second race on Sundays.
Following the tradition inaugurated in 2006, the International GT Open will visit tracks around Europe of the highest standards, with the inclusion for the first time of the Nurburgring.
GT Sport anticipates no major changes in the technical rules of the Super GT (GT2) and GTS (GT3) categories, ensuring thus regulatory stability for the fifth year in a row. The main development will be that the GTS (GT3) category will have its own separate set of rules, to be published shortly, but with no modifications in substance.
On the commercial side, the growing interest from TV stations for the International GT Open will certainly lead to an extended TV coverage, both live and delayed, throughout Europe and beyond. GT Sport will announce new agreements in due course.
Jesus Pareja, CEO of GT Sport, commented: "We are actively working on the 2010 edition of the International GT Open and will pursue our policy of progressive growth based on regulatory stability and cost control, which is what GT competitors are asking for. We are pleased to announce today our 2010 calendar, which includes eight events in seven different countries, all on top-class circuits with premium venues, and we are delighted to add to the list a motorsports temple like the Nurburgring".
