Kluever practices turning right

KLUEVER PRACTICES TURNING RIGHT

CONCORD, N.C. -- Turning right is not something Todd Kluever has done before in his professional racing career. With a road course being the third race of the season on the NASCAR Busch Series schedule, Kluever decided to get some extra practice by attending the Bob Bondurant school in Phoenix, Ariz.

Kluever spent two days working one-on-one with a Bondurant instructor to hone his road-racing skills. His first road course event in the No. 06 3M Ford Fusion will be at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City on March 5, followed by Watkins Glen on August 12.

"The school was very helpful," Kluever said. "I really learned a lot and I feel pretty comfortable about going to my first road course in two months. I'm also going to test at Virginia International Raceway later this month so I can get some experience in an actual Busch car. We raced Mustangs at the Bondurant school, so I'm sure it will be somewhat different in a Busch car. I want to get as much practice as I can since we'll have to qualify on time to get into the Mexico race because we are a new team and won't have points that early in the season to fall back on.

"Road racing is a lot of fun, but there's a lot to it. Timing the shifting and braking takes some practice to get the feel of it and the more you do it the easier it is. Mark Martin is an awesome road racer so I'm sure he'd be willing to give me some tips."
