SM: Kon Rodz Racing names Anderson tuner

RANDY ANDERSON SELECTED TO TUNE KON RODZ TAFC

Maple, Ont. - The beginning of a New Year often brings resolutions, positive thoughts and elevated expectations. Today, the Canadian-based Kon Rodz Racing Top Alcohol Funny Car team from Maple, Ont. covered all three bases by announcing two-time NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car World Champion Randy Anderson has been retained as the tuner of the Spiro Kontos owned and Cassie Simonton driven TAFC for the 2011 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series.

"We are overwhelmed with excitement and optimism for the upcoming season after we have come to terms with Randy Anderson to become our crew chief for the 2011 season," noted Kontos, a Canadian business man and entrepreneur who has been competing as an owner in the highly competitive NHRA TAFC division for the past two seasons. "Randy is not only an exceptional tuner, but he is a great leader, and a quality driven man with a strong value system. He will become a welcome addition to our team and we are honored to have him as a member of our racing family."

Anderson, the owner of Randy Anderson's Advanced Power Systems in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., has established himself as one of the premier tuners of blown alcohol engines over the past twenty years. Over the past decade, Anderson has tuned high-profile drivers such as Bob Tasca III and Alexis Dejoria. A two-time NHRA TAFC championship driver and former NHRA Fuel Funny Car pilot himself, Anderson has a unique perspective and uncanny ability to teach up and coming driver's solid fundamentals. This trait will be warmly received by Cassie Simonton, the second-year driver of the Kon Rodz TAFC.

"Randy has been there and done that during his exceptional racing career and I am very anxious to learn as much as possible from him this season," noted Simonton, who impressed several racers with the quick learning curve she showed during her rookie campaign last season. "As a former driver, he knows the hurdles a person has when driving one of these cars and it shows in the quality of his tune-up. His fuel system is used by several of the top blown alcohol teams in the world. It's an honor to work with Randy Anderson this year, and I'm very excited to get back behind the wheel of the Kon Rodz Racing TAFC."

The Kon Rodz Racing team has yet to finalize their 2011 NHRA LODRS schedule; however they expect to test their new Anderson tune-up at South Georgia Motorsports Park (SGMP) during a test session held March 6-9th in Adel, Ga. The team will make their 2011 NHRA LODRS debut during the 42nd running of the Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals contested in Gainesville, Fla., March 10-13th. The Kon Rodz Racing TAFC will be on display at the Canadian Motorsports Expo in Toronto, Ont. Jan 21-23rd.
