Top Peugeot Super 106 Cup contenders Daniel and Clive Dunbabin are all set to begin their assault on the Rally of Wirral next weekend, after a double header of test sessions over the past three days.

The Warrington twins spent one day each at both the popular single venue rally location of Three Sisters Racetrack near Wigan, and the tight and twisty confines of the Shropshire Rally School in Witchurch.

Testing was mainly spent on fine tuning the front end handling of the car, but by Sunday afternoon the car was performing superbly as Danny entertained his sponsors for the season - Crosby Training of Liverpool, Paul Wilson Motors of Warrington, and the owners of Shropshire Rally School themselves. Also present were a number of journalists from both the local media and dedicated rally websites, as well as a couple of photographers providing some actions shots for a feature in a local paper and for Daniel's exclusive column on top rally website www.britishrally.co.uk

After the test, Dan found it difficult to contain his enthusiasm to cross the startline in the Wirral next weekend, and get on with some real rallying at last:

"We've done everything we can with the car, and we're happy with the handling and set up that we've chosen. We won't know until the rally begins whether we've chosen the correct set up or not, but the car feels quick and the handling is excellent - I just can't wait to get on the stages and get on with the rally!"

Twin brother Clive said the pair's low seeding for the rally (in the 60's) wasn't as bad as it sounds for a rally like the Wirral :

"Although there are around 30 Peugeot Super 106's in front of us, it may work to our advantage in the day as we will know exactly what times people are setting and with what set up! I'm sure it will help us gauge our pace throughout the day. A good clean trouble free run will see us right up there we believe."

The Rally of Wirral is also the first round of the new Formula Rally Championship which aims to promote young drivers as they aim to progress through the ranks of the sport.
