WSS: Hollywood Heywood joins Disbury Family Racing

18 November 2002 - Former World Series Champion, Brad "Hollywood" Heywood will join Australia's "Hollywood" team, Disbury Family Racing in the fourth round of the World Series Sprintcars at Adelaide's Speedway City next Saturday night November 30.

Heywood has been on fire so far this year at Parramatta City Raceway with two podium finishes from the three events at the venue. He was leading last weekend's event until a steering arm ended his race.

45 year-old Heywood is one of the most experienced Sprintcar drivers in the country and is also a former Australian Superbike Champion .

Heywood replaces Garry Rush in the team for the event due to Rush having other commitments over the weekend. Rush hopes to be able to rejoin with he team later in the season after his successful debut at Murray Bridge in October.

"From all reports the team have got some really good equipment and are one of the best packages going around. I'm really looking forward to driving for them," Heywood said

"I love racing the World Series Sprintcar format as it is great racing, I would say the racing is the best by far."

Heywood has previously competing at the Adelaide venue on several occasions with the last being in the 1999/2000 season with his best result coming in the early nineties with a second place in the Australian Sprintcar Masters.

"The Speedway City track is really enjoyable to drive and with the teams local knowledge of the circuit I am confident of a really good showing," commented Heywood.

Following the unavailability of Rush team owner Darren Disbury was possibly looking at missing the event but is now looking forward to working the experience of Heywood.

"Obviously it is disappointing to have to be forced to have two different drivers in a matter of meetings especially since the team jelled so well with Garry," Disbury said.

"But on the positive side of that we have now got undoubtedly one of Australian most experienced drivers in the car to ensure out local sponsors get the maximum exposure for their investment."
