Coimbatore Vento Cup: Dodhiwala takes lights-to-flag Race 1 win
Ishaan Dodhiwala led from start to finish to take a comprehensive victory in the first Volkswagen Vento Cup race of the season at Coimbatore.
Dodhiwala got a perfect getaway starting on pole, pulling a gap of over a second within the first two laps.
From there on, he continued to extend the lead over the rest of the field, eventually winning the race by a margin of 2.686 seconds.
Behind, last year’s runner up Karminder Singh finished a distant second, having passed front row-starter Keith Desouza on the opening lap.
Further back, Aditya Vijay Pawar finished in fourth place, with Jeet Jhabakh completing the top five.
In a fairly incident-free 12-lap race, Amit Mete was classified in sixth place, ahead of Niranjan Todkari and Venkata Teja.
The top 10 was completed by Pradeep Rao and Gowdham Raj with last year entrant Rajeev Srivastava in 11th.
Eswar Bolisetti, younger brother of ex-Polo Cup driver Sailesh, finished down in 15th place, having started in the top 10.
