SO CLOSE FOR D'ALBERTO AND BARGWANNA AT BATHURST
The Rod Nash Racing team of Tony D'Alberto and Jason Bargwanna came within two laps of finishing 6th at the Super Cheap Auto 1000 at Bathurst yesterday before their race ended when Tony hit the wall at turn 2 on lap 159 of 161.
The team had a dream run to that point with the crew planning an excellent strategy for the day which was barely deviated from. This combined with a reliable car and nothing short of exceptional driving by both Tony and Jason put them in a strong position for the closing stages of the race.
Tony put in his fastest lap of the race on lap 156 of the race as he pulled away from Fabian Coulthard and Will Davidson.
The accident occurred when Tony ran wide at turn 2 and lost control as the car seemingly slipped on fluid left by the HRT car which crashed there a few laps prior.
While everyone at Rod Nash Racing is naturally disappointed with the final result they did have an extremely good event with the car running strongly from practice 1 right through to the race on Sunday.
