The Indian qualified eighth on Saturday, with former Formula 1 driver Alex Yoong taking pole ahead of Rahel Frey and Martin Rump.
In Race 1 on Sunday morning, Patel was able to make a place to finish seventh, comfortably ahead of Kyoung-Ouk You.
Up ahead, with success ballast in the car, Yoong not only lost the lead but podium position too with Frey winning from Alessio Picariello by over 12s margin, wihile Rump finished third.
The Belgian driver had leapfrogged Rump as well as title contender Yoong in his run to second. Yoong was forced to settle for fourth.
Gritty fight for podium in second race
While Patel had a relatively lonely first race, the Audi India backed driver was involved in a three-way battle for the last place on the podium in Race 2.
With Picariello and Frey in the distant ahead, Yoong led the train of cars vying for a podium spot throughout the race.
But the Malaysian had just about enough to keep Franky Chang behind, who in turn had small buffer over Patel.
The Indian, meanwhile, endured pressure from Marchy Lee, who retired after tussling with Jan Kisiel, allowing Patel to breathe while chasing Lee.
In the end, Picariello took his maiden win keeping Frey at bay, with Yoong third. Patel eventually finished fifth, mere 0.464s behind Lee.
With just one round remaining, Picariello leads the standings with 151 points, while Patel sits eighth on 60, nine behind Kisiel.
