Barreda was three minutes off the lead after Monday, but led at every waypoint in a likewise shortened Tuesday stage, taking first place in the general classification at the finish line.
With Stage 2 frontrunners Ruben Faria and Toby Price off the pace and dropping down the order, the runner-up spot now belongs to KTM's Stefan Svitko, 14 seconds off Barreda.
However, the Slovakian was only fifth through the stage itself, behind impressive Argentinian newcomer Kevin Benavides, who ran Barreda close for the lead, and Jorge Goncalves, completing a Honda 1-2-3 for the day - with enduro star Antoine Meo finishing as best of the rest.
Pablo Quintanilla is now the lead Husqvarna in the classification, having finished the stage in sixth ahead of Prologue star Adrien van Beveren, Gerard Farres, Alain Duclos and Matthias Walkner.
