Weather: air temperature 12/14/10° C, track 17/22/15° C, rainy, cloudy then again rainy

Fifth and last day of testing this week for the Ferrari Marlboro team at the Fiorano track. As with yesterday's testing, both Luca Badoer and Michael Schumacher were on the track. The Italian driver continued the development programme of the new electronic solutions in anticipation of the new technical regulations, due to come into effect from the next Grand Prix in Spain. Michael Schumacher, meanwhile, continued the preparation of the F2001 for the San Marino Grand Prix, concentrating on the tyres and aerodynamics. The changeable weather conditions allowed for a experimentation with different types of tyres in preparation for Imola.

"This week's testing has been very positive" - said Schumacher - "We worked principally on the tyres and the development of several aerodynamic solutions. I am sure that at Imola we will more competitive than in Brazil. This year the battle for the championship will be between three teams: I think Williams will be up front also at Imola ."


Badoer completed a total of 49 laps, of which 22 were on the short track. chumacher's lap total reached 127 (15 on the short track). In addition, both drivers completed numerous start practices : 17 Badoer and 4 Schumacher.

This is the breakdown of the two drivers timings:
Badoer (F1-2000) 1.01.076 (dry track)
Badoer (F1-2000) 1.09.616 (wet track)
Schumacher (F2001) 0.59.349 (dry track)
Schumacher (F2001) 1.05.648 (wet track - intermediate)

Testing started at 10:45am and concluded at 7:30pm.
