The Force India driver will be the focus of the 100,000 Mexican fans who will descend on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez for the return of the country's Formula 1 race on Sunday.
With teams facing a great deal of unpredictability, Perez has vowed to do all he can to pull off the kind of shock podium that he delivered in Russia.
“I will take any gamble that is available,” he told Motorsport.com. “Obviously I have everything to win and nothing to lose.
“I have been doing a great championship up until now, so the result tomorrow won't change anything if the result goes very bad or goes well. But it is very important this grand prix for me, so all I can do is to give my very best.”
Crazy race
With low-grip conditions and a potential for rain, Perez is convinced that the Mexican GP will not be a straightforward race.
“There are a lot of uncertainties,” he said. “We don't have a lot of information, because with the long runs we did on Friday it was quite damp.
“So I expect tomorrow to have a lot of surprises – with people retiring, and people making mistakes. It is a difficult track, with not a lot of run off areas, so there will be a lot of enthusiastic battles around.”
Special weekend
Whatever the result on Sunday, Perez already believes the Mexican GP has been truly memorable.
“Definitely the most special one of my whole career,” he said. “To be here with my people is something – I have no words for the emotions I am feeling and I am going through.
"I am very happy and enthusiastic for the race. I want to give the fans a good result.”
