The Prost Acer Team conducted a four-day test this week at the Valencia Circuit in Spain to accomplish an important technical programme in preparation for the Monaco Grand Prix (May 27th). Besides continuing to work on the electronic systems, the team concentrated on testing and validating the different components of a new aerodynamic package. Official drivers Jean Alesi and Luciano Burti shared driving duties on the only chassis the team took to this session.

Luciano Burti drove on Tuesday and Wednesday, completing 92 laps in total, and setting a best time of 1'15''562. Jean Alesi drove on Thursday and Friday, completing 116 laps in total setting a best time of 1'14''836.

Jean Alesi:

"This was an important session as we tested the new aero-package which has been in the works for sometime. We tested a new front wing, a new floor, a new lower rear wing and a new rear suspension geometry. All of the new pieces have made a positive improvement to their relevant areas and the overall speed of the car. I am confident and looking forward to Monaco, a circuit on which I have always raced well."

Luciano Burti:

"We achieved some good work here in Valencia. After the difficult week-end we had in Austria, I was really looking forward to see how the AP04 behaves with its new parts. And I have been impressed by the new floor we ran, which has a positive influence on the overall performance of the car. However, my first test with the new front wing was not so conclusive and a few adjustments were needed, which has been done on the last two days with Jean. It was good to feel the car behaving well and improving step by step. Hopefully this will soon allow us to move up on the grid for the next races."
