ATS Formula 3 Cup
Volkswagen driver Laurens Vanthoor is Formula 3 champion

Volkswagen driver Laurens Vanthoor celebrated winning the ATS Formula 3 Cup title after taking a win and twelfth position at the Nurburgring with two race weekends to spare. In doing so the Belgian crowned an impressive season of results which include 9 wins, 10 pole positions and 8 fastest race laps from fourteen races to date in Germany's highest ranking single-seater race series. With four races left to run and only 48 points still to be awarded Vanthoor holds an unassailable lead over his Van Amersfoort Racing team mate Stef Dusseldorp who has 81 points. Vanthoor secured Volkswagen the championship title in only its second year after its return as engine supplier in Formula 3. At 18 years, three months and 18 days of age Vanthoor is also the youngest ever champion in the history of German Formula 3.

ADAC Formula Masters
Daniel Abt increases championship lead with two wins

At the sixth ADAC Formula Masters "powered by Volkswagen" race weekend Daniel Abt scooped the jackpot. With two pole positions and two wins at the Nurburgring the 16-year old budding star from Kempten took the maximum points score of 46 points and increased his championship lead in the process. Going into the final two race weekends at the Sachsenring and at Oschersleben Abt has a 39-point lead in the overall standings from Klaus Bachler, who took a brace of third places in the Eifel. Rene Binder and Kevin Friesacher each took a second place at the Nurburgring.

The Volkswagen Junior secured his fourth successive pole position in qualifying at the ninth race of the season in Valencia and followed this up with a race victory - his fourth of the season, also the fourth consecutive.
