Formula 3 Euro Series
Volkswagen driver Edoardo Mortara continues leading the standings
Volkswagen driver Edoardo Mortara continues leading the Formula 3 Euro Series standings after races eleven and twelve of the season. Although the Italian retired from the first round at the Nurburgring due to a collision that was no fault of his and finished the second race only in 23rd place, the Volkswagen Dallara driver of the French Signature team has a one-point advantage over his immediate rival. Thanks to a strong fighting performance, the Volkswagen drivers Jean Karl Vernay (F) and Franck Mailleux (F) - both from the Signature team - as well as Jens Klingmann (D) - RC Motorsport - clinched top ten results in the Eifel.
ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup
Alexander Rambow dominates at the Nurburgring
19-year-old Alexander Rambow was unbeatable at the seventh round of the ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup at the Nurburgring. The junior driver from Zehdenick managed a commanding start-finish victory from the pole position. This exploit reduces his gap to Polo Cup leader Shane Williams to just two points. The South African finished as the runner-up in the Eifel, ahead of Elia Erhart from Rottenbach. Best Polo Cup rookie in seventh place was again Maximilian Sandritter from Raubling.
Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland
Volkswagen Junior Rene Rast extends overall lead
Finishing the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland in seventh place, Volkswagen Junior Rene Rast extended his overall lead. The 2005 ADAC Volkswagen Polo Cup Champion had started the race on the tradition-rich circuit from the pole position but had to sit a drive-through penalty after a collision, which caused the 21-year-old to drop to 17th place. During his subsequent recovery Rast underlined his driving skills.
SEAT Leon Supercopa
Exploits for Volkswagen Juniors
With victory on Sunday and fourth place in Saturday's race Volkswagen Junior Jimmy Johansson from Sweden underpinned his second place in the standings at the sixth race weekend of the SEAT Leon Supercopa. For the 2006 Polo Cup Champion, this marked the second win of the year. The second Volkswagen Junior in the SEAT one-make cup, Constantin Dressler, finished fourth on Sunday, thus clinching his so far best result of the season. In the first race, which was stopped early due to rain, the 19-year-old finished fifth.
Czech Circuit Racing Championship
Victory for Volkswagen Polo
After a successful debut of the Volkswagen Polo at the Czech Circuit Racing Championship at Brno Antonin Blazek clinched victory in the class up to 1.4 litres of cubic capacity at Poznan (PL) as well. The 18-year-old Czech driver in his 195-hp Polo fielded by Charouz Racing System saw the chequered flag more than half a minute earlier than his closest rival.
