UK: CR Scuderia Oulton Prak preview

The Formula Renault teams are heading to the north-west of England this weekend for rounds 15 and 16 of the 2008 Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire. CRS' Adam Christodoulou still holds the Championship lead and will be looking to extend his advantage so he can go comfortably into the final two events of 2008 at Silverstone and Brands Hatch.

Scott Jenkins made good progress with his qualifying performance last time out at Snetterton. He has never raced at Oulton Park though so he has a tough challenge ahead of him this time out. Ryuji Yamamoto will be out to take two good points finishes to help his position in the standings and Jesse Krohn, after making a great debut at Snetterton, is hoping for another good pair of results.

CRS Team Director, Andrew Kirkaldy:

"This is a very important meeting for us. Looking at the Championship we are very confident as a team heading to both Silverstone and Brands with Adam. Oulton is a little bit of an unknown as we had problems in testing there but Adam has been good there in the past. However it has been strong for us in previous years with Jeremy (Metcalfe) winning last year. Scott has made some great improvements recently and I hope Oulton can produce the podium finish we are looking for. Ryuji has had a difficult time recently and I hope he can rise to the top again at Oulton. He has been very quick in testing there so there's no reason why not. Jesse had a great showing at Snetterton with us and I am sure he can go better at Oulton. He will have to learn the track quickly but he has a great approach to his racing so that shouldn't be a problem."

Adam Christodoulou (currently 1st in Championship standings):

"Oulton Park is one of the most exciting but hardest and most technical tracks that I think I have ever been to. The trickiest thing about the track is that it's so narrow so there is no room for mistakes. The key to Oulton is that you have to have so much confidence in the car and definitely no fear around some of the faster blind corners. I raced there last year and managed to secure a podium finish. It was definitely one of the hardest races because I had to keep one of the main championship contenders behind me for the last part of the race. Whilst testing there a few months ago we struggled a bit, but I'm still confident because we seemed to have a few engine problems during the two day test and since then the team has worked hard to make sure the engine is sorted and the set up is spot on."

Ryuji Yamamoto (currently 9th in Championship standings):

"Oulton Park is a very technical and difficult circuit. Although my results there last year weren't great I learnt a lot about how to race at Oulton. My position in the series standings is up one place after the last race at Snetterton so I'll try to get more points by finishing in the top five this weekend."

Scott Jenkins (currently 10th in Championship standings):

"I think Oulton Park is one of the most challenging circuits the Renault calendar has to offer due to the fact that there are many hills and a huge variety of corners, from uphill cornering to downhill braking, and a good mixture of slow and fast corners. I have never raced there so it is going to be another new challenge for me as a year one driver but I think my aim for this weekend is to get a top six in both races or maybe higher!"

Jesse Krohn (currently 20th in Championship standings):

"I like Oulton Park a lot as it is really tech nically challenging circuit. I have only driven the GP circuit before and I have only ever tested there but the testing went well so I am aiming for top five finishes in the two races."

Rounds 15 and 16 of the 2008 Formula Renault UK Championship get underway on Sunday at 1200hrs and 1650hrs, with qualifying taking place on Saturday at 0830hrs and 1345hrs.
