Mahindra has struggled to keep up to pace with KTM and Honda in the opening part of the season, with none of their three teams scoring points in the first three flyaway races.

However, the start of the European leg of the season has brought optimism for the Indian manufacturer, with Dalla Porta and Albert Arenas qualifying 17th and 13th on the grid respectively.

The 19-year-old, who has secured a best result of 23rd so far this year, believes a points finish is on the cards in Sunday’s 23-lapper.

"We had a little less complicated qualifying session than normal, although I think I lacked a little something on the last lap,” he said.

“I was doing well, setting a good time, but I made some mistakes and couldn't finish higher up.

“I am happy with the setup of the bike and with what we can expect for tomorrow because the race tyre responds better than the one we used in qualifying.

“The goal for the race is to enter into the points, and we are close to that."

Meanwhile, Arenas feels that the Mahindra MGP30 is still not capable to secure a top-10 finish, but was nevertheless pleased with the progress made since Austin.

"We felt strong from the start this morning. I'm comfortable with the bike, and we have made some small changes that have helped me.

“We had a good strategy and we wanted to make the most of it. I am happy, but I want more because I could have improved my time by a few more tenths. However, we are close to the frontrunners.

“We tried to give our all and now it is time to continue with this confidence and fight tomorrow.

We still have a bit of work left to do with the Mahindra to be in the top ten, but I'm happy because I enjoyed myself on the bike today."
