Rossi: Lorenzo overtake controversy has become "a joke"

Lorenzo and Rossi quarreled over the Italian's early-race move at Misano, and the Spaniard reiterated his point in the Thursday press conference at Aragon, saying he was now more convinced he had been in the right.

His teammate, however, insists that it is absurd to keep discussing the incident two weeks on from the race.

"For me, if we have to speak more than two weeks about this overtake, we waste our time," Rossi said when asked for an overview of the move. "It's like a joke now, I think."

"For me, it's very important, when you overtake, where is the other bike and where you overtake considering the corner. The more delayed an overtake, the more aggressive it is - and if you touch the other bike, it's more than aggressive.

"I overtake Lorenzo with all the bike minimum 20 metres before the corner and if you see the images, it's very clear that he saw me. He wanted to try to cross my line, he saw me but he expected me to go wide and he crossed my line.

"If we have to speak about this overtake, we need to not overtake anymore. That's my point of view. I think it's his idea [to stir up a discussion], in the press conference I tried to explain my point of view."
