Stewart-Haas Racing picked up the pace is Happy Hour with Kevin Harvick setting the top speed with a lap of 125.430 mph.
That’s good, 52 on your first one, P1,” crew chief Rodney Childers told his driver.
“Good job guys,” Harvick said after completing his lap.
Kyle Busch was second (125.348 mph) after getting free in Turn 1 and missing the bottom of the turn. Jimmie Johnson (125.273mph), Kasey Kahne (125.226 mph) and Harvick’s teammate Kurt Busch (124.942), who won here in the spring, rounded out the top five on the speed chart.
“That change up front helped,” Busch said after his final run. “Then the change in the back assisted the front.”
Martin Truex Jr., Danica Patrick, Jeff Gordon, Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr. completed the fastest 10 times.
Chevrolet domination
The Chevys dominated final practice with eight drivers in the top 10. Although Kyle Busch’s Toyota was second quick, the next fastest Camry was his teammate Matt Kenseth in 12th and Clint Bowyer in 20th. Keselowski, ninth, posted the fastest lap by Fords followed by his Penske teammate Joey Logano in 14th.
"That was a decent run...some ups and downs with other cars on the track," Keselowski said.
His crew chief Paul Wolfe replied, "I thought you did good there behind the 11 (Denny Hamlin).”
Hamlin, who is suffering with torn right ACL, posted the 42nd fastest time — 121.583 mph.
