Team mates triumph
The Fireworks King Tony Southwell and his new team mate, rookie Rodney Crick finished one-two in the final heat of round five of the V8 Stock Cars series.

The race, which started in the reverse order the finish of race two, saw Nigel Benson lead from Rusty French, Martin Burrows and Southwell who surged past them all on lap three.

Benson spun shortly after at turn one, the exhaust of his Chev starting a small grass fire as he rejoined the race. A pace car was brought out for several laps as fire attendants extinguished it.

At the resumption Southwell continued while Crick executed a great start to be second ahead of Neville Haley, George Elliot, French and Richard Howe. With only a couple of laps to go Elliot slipped off at turn one allowing many through.

French took third just in front of Howe and Andrew Miedecke with a gap then to Burrows, Chris Templer and Haley together. Benson Elliot and Doug Moss ensue.
