Phillip Island: Kelly Racing Friday report

KELLY RACING PREPARE FOR ISLAND ENDURO

Kelly Racing has tested in both wet and dry conditions in practice for the L&H 500 at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit in Victoria today.

Jason Bargwanna and Glenn Seton were 22nd fastest overall in the #11 Rock Commodore today as the experienced pair look to improve their speed in the lead-up to Sunday's 500-kilometre race.

Tony Ricciardello and Taz Douglas were 29th fastest in the #16 Stratco Commodore at Phillip Island today as both drivers worked towards a solid preparation for their second L&H 500 start.

Shane van Gisbergen and John McIntrye's #9 entry was the fastest of the day on overall times in practice at Phillip Island today, ahead of the #888 Commodore of Craig Lowndes and Mark Skaife and the #15 Jack Daniel's Commodore of Rick Kelly and Owen Kelly.

JASON BARGWANNA - #11 Rock Holden Commodore

"There were a lot of cars that ran green tyres towards the end but we will not run a new tyre lap until tomorrow," said Jason Bargwanna.

"In terms of the time sheet it's not really a true indicator of the field at the moment. During the day we were up around the top 10 most of the day in the wet, in the dry, in the changing conditions.

"Glenn is right on the pace and we've made some progress as well. We want to get the Rock car better so that we are in a good position tomorrow but the early signs are good so I'm reasonably pleased after day one."

GLENN SETON - #11 Rock Holden Commodore

"Today was about setting ourselves up for the weekend and getting miles," said Glenn Seton.

"I haven't done a lot of miles in a while but so far, so good.

"The Rock car seems to be near the pace but we have some areas that we need to work on and improve so that we can make it faster.

"The guys have got some ideas and we are looking into things closely overnight so that we can improve our pace for tomorrow.

"But the most important thing is to have a good, consistent race car on Sunday because that is what you need to run up the front."

TONY RICCIARDELLO - #16 Stratco Holden Commodore

"Today was a day where preparing for the weekend was the key," said Tony Ricciardello.

"We made sure we gave Taz plenty of laps to help him get comfortable in the Stratco car and he did a good job.

"We've got a good idea of where we need to improve in terms of our speed, but of course it's all about being consistent and keeping it straight."

TAZ DOUGLAS - #16 Stratco Holden Commodore

"Day one has had its ups and downs with the wet weather obviously being a downer," said Taz Douglas.

"Not being able to get a good run of dry laps until the last session held us back a bit as it took a while for us to get up to speed in the changing conditions.

"I was comfortable in the Stratco car towards the end of the day so it's looking good for us to improve our pace and position tomorrow."
