Rubens Barrichello is in a positive frame of mind as he approaches his home race and met the press at the Interlagos circuit today. Barrichello has not had the best of track record in Brazil, having failed to finish the race for nine consecutive years, but he is fully focused on Sunday and is aiming for a win to close the season.

"Despite my poor record at the track I am not taking that into account," he said. "I have won two of the last three races and I am telling myself that I will win here this time. I am having a very positive approach to this weekend and why not, when I have the best car and I am driving for the best team."

Rain is forecast for Sunday, which may cause a little concern after last year's race was run in bad conditions. Turn three practically had a river running across it in 2003 and many drivers ended their race in the barrier after skidding off.

Barrichello believes the problem will not recur this time. "I know the people at the circuit have done a lot of work to improve the drainage to clear the water off the track more quickly, so I am not worried about that," he said.

However, the notoriously bumpy track may not have improved despite recent resurfacing. "What I am not sure of is what effect the partial resurfacing will have and I expect the track surface might still be quite bumpy," Barrichello added.

"Every year they try and improve, especially the more dangerous sections. In any case, it is a fantastic track and the layout is perfect for overtaking and therefore puts on a good show for the spectators, who enjoy a fantastic view of the track because of its layout and the location of the grandstands."
