UK: CR Scuderia Brands Hatch preview

WHO WILL BE CHAMPION?

This is it. The 2008 Formula Renault UK Champion will be crowned at Brands Hatch this weekend and CR Scuderia's Adam Christodoulou is the man at the top of the tables. He knows what he needs to do and is eager to get to Brands to tie up the title. Scott Jenkins and Ryuji Yamamoto are both targeting podium finishes to end their racing seasons on a high and Jesse Krohn, fresh from winning the Finnish Formula Renault Championship, is also hoping for a successful end to his British season.

CRS Team Director, Andrew Kirkaldy:

"Brands Hatch is going to be a bit of a nerve-wracking weekend. We didn't have the Silverstone we hoped for so we have to go to Brands Hatch to wrap up the title. Adam just needs to be sensible and the title will be his. The other three drivers are all capable of good results, especially at Brands as we have always had a strong car there. I'm really pleased for Jesse as he has just won the Finnish Championship; he can get great results in the UK too, he just hasn't had the best of luck so far."

Adam Christodoulou (currently 1st in Championship standings):

"I can't believe it's the last race weekend already. It has been a year of ups and downs, but gladly more ups. I was hoping I could wrap up the Championship at Silverstone but that went out the window at the start of the second race when I retired after the first corner. Luckily I have had a good season so I can put this behind me and concentrate on getting the job done at Brands Hatch. My target is to finish both races cleanly and to win the British Championship but I am still going to push to get on the podium too. Brands Hatch is a good track for me and the CRS team. We all went well there in testing at the start of the year and our season started well at Brands back in March. The guys at CRS have been very loyal to me and I would like to think they've seen the same loyalty from me. I've had to work very hard over the last two yea rs and I'm pleased to see the hard work is paying off: winning the Graduate Cup last year and in with a chance of winning one of the toughest British Championships this year. I need to stay focussed now and go to Brands Hatch to finish the job off."

Scott Jenkins (currently 9th in Championship standings):

"My target at Brands Hatch is to get a podium finish, which I nearly managed last time we were there. I think I've come a long way since the beginning of the season; it has been an extremely tough and competitive season but this is what I expected. All in all my year has gone well but I still don't hink I have shown my true potential. I have learnt a lot by being with CRS; I have learnt that it is important to be professional at all times and that there is always room for improvement on the track!"

Ryuji Yamamoto (currently 11th in Championship standings):

"At the s tart of the season I had a good run at Brands Hatch under difficult conditions; I was able to take fastest lap in the opening round and really enjoyed the event, taking two top six finishes. My target this time around is to get on the podium. My season was perfect in the early stages but it has been terrible ever since the crash I had at Thruxton. I have learned a lot this season due to the difficulties I have faced. There are many engineers and mechanics with abundant experiences at CR Scuderia and they have taught me a lot about set up of the car and race strategy. Also, it has been extremely useful for me to compare data with Adam. I will try my best in the last two races to make everyone who supported me happy."

Jesse Krohn (currently 22nd in Championship standings):

"My target for Brands is to get better qualifying positions so I am able to challenge for top five finishes in the races. I haven't had much luck in the las t couple of races in England but the Finnish season has gone well for me. I want to get a good result in the CRS car as in the races I've done with the team I have learned as much as I did during the whole Finnish season."

Qualifying for the final Formula Renault UK races of the season take place on Saturday at 0925hrs and 1440hrs. Both races are on Sunday: the first at 1005hrs and the second at 1715hrs.
