- Wendall Scott captures the only pole of his NASCAR Grand National career, at Savannah, Georgia, USA (1962).

- Bernd Schneider, German touring and sports car racer, born (1964).

July 21 - Rich Vogler dies in wreck during sprint car race at Salem, Indiana, USA (1990).

July 22 - Sportscar racer Calvin Fish born (1961).

July 23 - Sportscar racer and Chaparral team owner Jim Hall born in Abilene, Texas, USA (1935).

- Digby Martland's Chevron B3 wins its first time out, at Oulton Park, England (1966).

July 24 - Phil Hill drives his supercharged MG TC to victory over a mixed field at Carrell Speedway in Gardenia, California, USA. It was his first ever race win (1949).

- Indycar racer Stan Wattles born (1961).

July 25 - Roger Ward defeats the creme of US sportscar racers when he wins the Formula Libre race at Lime Rock, Connecticut, in an Offenhauser powered Kurtis midget (1959).
